Why I Don’t Colour Match with Sephora Online

I have been eyeballing some new foundations to try for a while. I have my information uploaded on the Sephora website (from a previous colour match in store) and memorised the shade ranges for what I wanted. The swatches below include my “normal” shade of foundation and foundations from Makeup Forever, Urban Decay, and Tarte.

(In order from top to bottom)

1. – Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hour Foundation in Light Beige (perfect shade for me).

2. Tarte Rainforest of the Sea in Light-Medium Beige (I give Sephora Employee this one; because we guessed the shade based on the other shades). I just really wanted a sample of this because the reviews were mixed for combination skin.

3. Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation in the shade 330.

4. Urban Decay Naked Foundation in the shade 3.5.

To sum everything up, #1 is my everyday foundation that I was colour matched in Sephora months ago.

According to the Sephora website shades, #3 and #4 are identical matches to #1. As you can see they clearly are not (these swatches were done within a 60-second span and have not had the chance to oxidise).

This is why it is important to try samples before purchasing.
