I have to admit that I jumped on the Laura Mercier Setting Powder wagon, after hearing wonders of it. The were many reviews all over the internet, claiming how amazing this was for combination skin and I knew I just had to try it.
Fortunately, this one of the few products that you can buy in a travel size (it seems that Sephora used to have more travel sizes available). The Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder retails for $28 in the sample size and $47 in the full size.
In terms of application, you don’t have to use a lot. I find that a quarter size amount will cover the face. However, be warned as too much powder will cause cake face.
How to Avoid Cake Face?
I would highly recommend 2 steps when using this product.
- Use a setting spray to merge the various layers of different products together.
- For longer wear, take a damp beauty sponge without the product to press down the powder already placed on the face.
I would highly recommend this product for oily and combination skin types. Those with dry or normal skin may find this a bit drying.
A word of caution for those with dry patches. I found with large dry patches the powder emphasised those areas (pea sized). Whereas smaller areas weren’t affected.
This is my Holy Grail Setting Powder and I use it on a daily basis.
