DIY Pinterest Mask Fail

As someone with combination skin, doing a weekly mask has greatly improved my complexion. I have made a point of making this a routine and am always on the search for something new to try.

A side effect of this routine has made my boyfriend addicted to masks and facials. This is the story of how he got a “lemon of a mask”.

For those who are curious, he has a normal but sensitive skin.

Cue Storytime.

I was on Pinterest and this blackhead peel-off mask came across my feed. Like most, my boyfriend has a sickening addiction to blackhead removals. We did a quick assessment to see if we had all of the ingredients at home.

We did!

So he commenced mixing the ingredients while I got ready for work. Based on the ingredients I was already sceptical that it would peel-off but rather exfoliate (which he hates cause it irritates his skin).

The Recipe.

The recipe was simple baking soda and lemon juice. That was it.

You can find the original recipe here.

Not All Stories Have a Happily Ever After.

As I came back from getting ready I could see the dismay as he the pieces began to crumble to the floor. The mask had not stuck at all.

The mask had dried and was cracking everywhere. I then said,”I told you so!” As he aggressively scrubbed his face. Revealing agitated red skin on his cheeks.

I really need to try a diy mask soon! The last one I did I was 14, although it was amazing! It was a mashed banana with some honey and maybe something else? Ever tried anything similar? I’m trying to find a good masked recipe! 😊 x
